Drug addiction, smoking, alcoholism are public diseases

On 7 November 2023, a curatorial hour on combating smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction and promoting a healthy lifestyle was held among 1218 groups of students of the specialty “General Medicine”.

In general, smoking, alcoholism and drug addiction are widespread among young people. Teenagers do not realise that they are destroying their lives for the sake of satisfying their curiosity.

One of the current problems among young people is smoking electronic cigarettes. Much has been said about the problem of smoking and its harm. However, the concern of scientists, educators and doctors caused by the spread of this addiction is growing, because still a significant number of young people do not consider smoking harmful to health.

Smoking is not a harmless activity that can be quit without effort. It is a real drug addiction, and all the more dangerous because it is not taken seriously by many.  As a result, many children end up in hospital with lung diseases.

During the curatorial hour, each student expressed their opinion and shared their thoughts on this large-scale issue.
