Every year on February 4, the whole world unites in the fight against cancer, one of the leading causes of death in the 21st century. On this day, people unite to raise awareness about this disease and draw attention to the prevention, detection and treatment of this disease. By joining forces, we can take action and reduce cancer deaths. It is important to know the causes, risk factors for developing the disease, and preventive measures and follow them. On the eve of World Cancer Day, continuing the work of the student research project on cancer prevention, on February 2, a conversation was held with students of group 1121 of the OM group at the Department of Biochemistry and Chemical Disciplines on the problem of cancer in Kazakhstan. Next, students of group 1121 GM Kaliev Sernad, Askhatuly Magzhan together with the scientific advisor Olzhayeva R.R. held an event at the KSU “Secondary School No. 34 named after B. Momyshuly” in the city of Semey dedicated to the problem of cancer. The students showed a video to schoolchildren in grades 8-11 about the role of World Cancer Day, presented a presentation on the statistics of the disease in Kazakhstan, the Abay region, disease prevention, answered students’ questions and offered a Google Form questionnaire. In an oral conversation during a survey of event participants, unfortunately, it was revealed that more than 50 percent have or have had relatives and friends with cancer. It is important to know the reasons and follow preventive measures! We express our gratitude to the school administration, chemistry and biology teacher Galiya Romanovna Olzhayeva for jointly organizing the event and for providing the opportunity to conduct important awareness-raising work.
