On March 26, 2024, teachers of the Department of Molecular Biology and Medical Genetics named after the academician of National Academy of sciences Republic of Kazakhstan Raissov T.K. organized and conducted the 1st stage of the subject Olympiad in the form of testing among 1st year students in the specialty “General Medicine” and “Pediatrics”.
At the first stage, 83 students tested their knowledge and 16 participants with the highest scores passed to the next stage of the subject Olympiad:

On April 02, 2024, the second stage of the subject Olympiad in molecular biology and medical genetics took place in the form of a team competition. 16 participants who passed the 1st stage of the Olympiad were divided into 4 teams by lot and competed with each other. The second stage consisted of 3 parts:
1 – drawing up a pedigree using the genealogical method of studying human genetics, its analysis
2 – competition of captains (blitz survey)
3 – presentation of the scheme of molecular mechanisms of gene expression, matrix syntheses and explanation of their significance in the regulation of metabolic processes in the body.
According to the results of the subject Olympiad, the places were distributed as follows:
1st place – team “Descendants of Mendel” (Cherubaeva Aniya, 1213Muratova Ayauly 1233, Bazylzhanov Ali 1229, Raeva Ayazhan 1227)
2nd place – team “DNA Department” (Beibitkyzy Aiym 1101, Nazarbekova Dinara 1105, Azanov Felix 1227)
3rd place – team “Gene” (Muratkhanova Sabina 1106, Kalimoldina Zhannur 1230, Nygymetolla Danara 1122, Nurbolkyzy Alina 1214)
4th place – team “Chromosomics” (Ainabek Amira 1231, Serykkaliev Rauan 1105, Kadyl Makpal 1232, Kadirova Alima 1213)
