On April 5, 2024 Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Efendiyev I.M. and assistant of the department Mansurova A.A. held a seminar on the topic “Whooping Cough in Children” for doctors – infectious disease specialists of the regional center of phthisiopulmonology. The seminar was held in offline format.

The Committee of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported a surge in the incidence of pertussis infection: the incidence rate amounted to 2.2 per 100 thousand population. For the whole year 2023, 421 cases of pertussis were detected, and from January to March 2024 – already 442 cases, which was an absolute record of recent years (https://standard.kz/ru/post/vraci-biut-trevogu-v-kazaxstane-rastet-zabolevaemost-kokliusem-260).

Efendiyev I.M., Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Chief Regional Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist, made an introductory speech.

Mansurova A.A., presented a report on the topic: “Etiology, epidemiology, classification, clinical picture, laboratory diagnosis (rules of material collection), treatment and prevention of pertussis in children”.

Efendiyev I.M. summarized the results of the seminar by answering the questions of the listeners. The participants of the seminar thanked the organizers for the seminar.
