Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression and Famine

31 May is the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression and Famine. This day has been regularly observed in the country since 1997. Work on the rehabilitation of victims of mass political repression and the restoration of the rights of illegally persecuted citizens began after Kazakhstan gained independence. That is, on 14 April 1993, the law ‘On the rehabilitation of victims of mass political repression’ was adopted. In 1997, by the decree of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, 31 May was declared the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repressions. During the curatorial session we did not talk about hunger, but discussed the life of repressed intellectuals, their life after the persecution. The purpose of this curatorial hour was not to forget the exploits of our ancestors, to acquaint students more deeply with the life of the national intelligentsia.
