Visiting the sacred places of the Abai region

In order to organize events aimed at developing the spiritual and moral qualities of students, on June 16, the teaching staff of the Department of Simulation and Educational Technologies Mukanova D. A., Smagulova Zh. I., Van O. T., Mamyrkhanova G. M., Ykybaeva N. B., Kovylina R. A., Musabekova N. E., together with the curatorial groups of the department, went to the sacred places of the Abay region. The trip started very interestingly. Having traveled 50 km from Semey, we reached the Kushikbai Batyr Pass, where we made a stop. Kushikbai Batyr is known for actively participating in battles against the Dzungars. Coming from the Uak tribe of the Middle Zhuz, the batyr bravely fought against the enemies of the people in difficult times for the Kazakh people. His exploits are dedicated to the book by Mukhtar Auezov and the story by Rollan Seisenbaev. Near the batyr’s grave there is a healing spring that does not freeze even in the most severe frosts.

Our second stop was the Enlik Kebek monument. The Enlik Kebek monument, known as the Tower of Love, is a monument in the Abay district. The tower was built over the grave of a girl, Enlik, and a boy, Kebek, two lovers who fell victim to the biys’ trial in 1780. We took a photo here and continued on our way.

The third stop was the Zhidebai complex, where the poet Abai spent his last 10 years, located near the Karaul River. With a guide, we visited the Abai Museum.

The poet moved here in 1894, and in 1892 his brother Ospan, who lived here, died, and Abai married the widow of Erkezhan according to the Amengerlik law. 75-76 lyrical poems of Abai were written in Zhidebai. Here he also wrote 27 of 45 “Words of Edification” and made translations of the works of Lermontov and Krylov. Zhidebai was a source of poetic inspiration and philosophical reflections for Abai. The atmosphere of those years when Abai lived reigns in the house. The living room, the study, the room where the zhasau of Abai’s wives are kept, the room for smoking meat and cooking. The students were interested in the chests, bone ornaments, the moments when Abai was hunting and took the arlan wolf.

The Abai-Shakarim Memorial Complex was built for the 150th anniversary of Abai in 1995. The architect of the complex is Bek Ibrayev. The complex is made of white Mangistau shell limestone. The stylobate platform is 200 meters long and 65 meters wide. The height of the platform is 5 meters. The platform consists of three tiers – three levels of the universe according to Kazakh mythology. In the center of the complex there is an amphitheater: at the bottom is the stage and above around are seats for spectators. Here poets compete in reciting poems, and cultural events are held.

Our fourth stop is “Konyr Auliye Ungiri”. The water of the lake inside the cave is considered sacred by locals, so it is actively visited by pilgrims. Among our teachers and students, there were those who dived into the water.

The table was set in the open air, interesting stories were told, everyone conveyed their feelings. It was time to return home, we got into the car and with deep thoughts, special feelings, we set off on our way.
