In 2024, on June 26, a seminar on the prevention of meningococcal infection was held for medical workers of the Central Emergency Medical Station of the Abay region. The speakers of the seminar were the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenereology and Immunology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Shaimardanov N.K., Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Smail E.M.
According to WHO, 500 thousand cases of generalized forms of meningococcal infection are registered annually in the world, of which 50 thousand are fatal. Possible complications include hearing loss, loss of limbs and decreased intelligence.
During the seminar, the epidemiology and clinical picture of meningococcal infection were reported, taking into account risk groups for contracting this infection in people.
The issues of drug treatment provided at the stage of emergency care and the tactics of a medical worker in the ambulance and emergency service in case of suspected meningococcal infection were examined in detail.
