The Department of Physical Education was organized in 1953. The first head of the department was Anna Semyonovna Kalanchina. Then in different years: A. M. Denisenko, A. M. Shipulin, V. A. Nikiforov, G. V. Frolova, E. R. Amirov, P. M. Grivkov, S. A. Bashirkhanov, E. K. Myrzabosynov.
In 2018, the course of physical culture was merged with the department of general education disciplines.
07.12.2022 the Academic Council of SMU, NCJSC decided to allocate the course of physical culture to a separate department of physical culture. A. Seypiluly was appointed acting head of the department. The collective of the department: Kydyrbaev A. M. – senior teacher, Smagulov S. S. – senior teacher, Bashirkhanov S. A. – senior teacher, Selikhov I. V. – teacher, Bolatova Sh B. – teacher, Bekbosynov D. A. – teacher., Orazbekova T. B. – laboratory assistant.
The main tasks of the Department of Physical Culture are:
- conducting physical education classes with students of SMU, NCJSC;
- conducting sectional work with students of SMU, NCJSC for the participation of the medical university in sports competitions at the city, regional and republican levels;
- carrying out mass sports work, including intra-university sports competitions, competitions, health trips to nature, track and field crosses, etc. with the participation of both students and employees of NJSC “IUS” to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop the desire of participants to engage in physical culture and sports.
