The history of the department: in order to improve the quality of mastering practical skills by students and interns on dummies and interactive computer dummies, in accordance with the Concept of reforming medical and Pharmaceutical education of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2010, under the patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an Educational and Clinical Center (hereinafter – UCC) was established at the University in 2007. From the day of its creation, the UKC was headed by PhD Zh.K. Smailova. Since 2014, a new head of the Educational and Clinical Center has been appointed – N. S. Smailov. From November 1, 2016 The UKC is headed by Associate Professor D.A. Mukanova. In January 2018 The first Triage training area in Kazakhstan was opened in the center. The functional design of the emergency department is an innovation in education and healthcare, modernization of the educational process in accordance with the new strategic direction of the university’s development – Emergency Medicine. Since this year, the UKC has been training medical workers from 20 pilot organizations in Kazakhstan according to the cycle: “Provision of emergency medical care in the prehospital period in case of injury (road accidents, polytrauma, 3-N system).” Since 2019 UKC became the Department of Simulation Technologies. Training in the conditions of the Department of Simulation Technologies is aimed not only at mastering individual skills, but also at interdisciplinary training, at mastering teamwork skills, developing communication skills and communication skills with the patient. Since 2019, the second stage of the final independent examination of interns has been conducted on the basis of the department. In 2022, due to the reorganization, the Department of Simulation Technologies was merged with the Department of Medical Education and renamed the Department of Simulation and Educational Technologies.
Currently, the Department of Simulation and Educational Technologies employs 10 staff, 7 teaching staff and 3 teaching staff: Head of the Department, PhD, Associate Professor D.A. Mukanova, head teacher of the Department Zh.I. Smagulova, teachers: R.A. Kovylina, N.E. Musabekova, O.T. Van, Mamyrkhanova G.M., Yukybaeva N.B., specialist Ameshova G.T., senior master Lavrukhina I.V., methodologist Abbasova Z.
The department conducts practical testing of the skills of only 2,3,5 and 7 courses of OMF, FPC for doctors, paramedics, nurses and paramedics in emergency medicine, as well as the organization of training for the entire teaching staff of the university in the pedagogical direction.
Objective: To achieve high-quality practical training of specialists at the pre-graduate and postgraduate levels by developing a competitive, high-tech Educational and Clinical Center in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan with further expansion of the use of simulation training in the educational process and improving the pedagogical skills of university teaching staff.
Tasks and functions:
- Improving the methodology of simulation as a form of active learning and control, the introduction of integrated interdisciplinary simulation scenarios.
- Organization and conduct of advanced training of teaching staff in the pedagogical direction.
- Satisfaction of teachers’ requests for updating professional knowledge, skills and abilities in educational programs providing for the study of new trends in modern higher education, as well as the development of innovative technologies.
- Creating conditions for the development of individual abilities for professional activity and continuous professional development of teaching staff of the department with the subsequent implementation of learning outcomes in the educational process;
- Attracting students to research work, ensuring the participation of students in scientific and practical conferences, scientific competitions, Olympiads.
- Educational work with students aimed at comprehensive personal development; involvement of students in volunteer activities.
