Due to the reorganization of the SMU, NCJSC (Semey Medical University, Non-Commercial Joint-Stock Company), since 2022, the Department of Therapy of SMU, NCJSC has been formed, the teaching staff of which are natives of the Department of Cardiology and Interventional Arrhythmology, Endocrinology and Hospital Therapy. The department has its own long history, for the first time the department had the name of internal diseases and internships of pediatric, dental, LPI faculties and was established on September 1, 2004.Currently, the head of the department is a doctor of the highest category, PhD Mansurova D.A., the staff of the department consists of experienced teaching staff, Professor Karazhanova L.K., MD, Professor Espenbetova M.Zh., MD . The teaching staff of the department have extensive experience in the use of modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of cardiological patients. All teachers have the highest qualification category.
The departmental employees perform a significant clinical workload at clinical sites, are engaged in scientific work, and introduce modern methods of therapy into practical healthcare. The scientific activities of the departments are in constant development, the range of scientific research is expanding, the departments are replenished by residents.
The clinical base of the Department of Therapy SMU, NCJSC is the emergency hospital of the city of Semey. The base has three departments of cardiology, endocrinology, an intensive care unit, and a department of X-ray endovascular surgery. In the educational process, the treatment and diagnostic rooms of the hospital are actively used.The department also uses the base of the University Hospital (UH) of SMU, NCJSC, where the cardio-rheumatology department, the department of cardiovascular surgery and the department of X-ray endovascular laboratory are located, where patients are provided with highly specialized medical care. Training of residents of cardiologists of the branch of SMU, NCJSC in Ust-Kamenogorsk is carried out in specialized departments of the East Kazakhstan Regional Hospital, consultative and diagnostic department (CDO) of the diagnostic center.
The clinical bases of the departments in terms of the number of beds and the profile of the departments fully meet the goals and objectives of training both bachelors, interns, and resident cardiologists. Students have unimpeded access to patients of clinical bases.
